Within our ministry for boys, one of the books we adopt is Truett Cathy’s “It’s better the build boys, than mend men.” In Cathy’s book, he gives several stories about his life as an obedient son. Even though his father was not the man who would tell him he loved him, he was a man who did not drink nor smoke. His father did not have a rowdy lifestyle, but yet he never shares his love with Truett.

Theo Abby would nurture each boys in his class. Because he himself had a son around the same age, he would spend time mentoring and teaching the boys. Down through the years, Theo Abby would become more than a Sunday school teacher but he would become his friend.
These Christian values imbedded within Cathy, would become a vital part of his life. Cathy would later become a Sunday school teacher himself, mentoring and teaching 13 year old boys. Cathy would secure this position for 50 years. Cathy would always say, “God will change a child’s life through you.”
In his book “It’s Better To Build Boys Than Mend Men,” Cathy talks about his Sunday school class, and his first encounter with Harry one of his students. The Sunday school class was a room full of 13 year of boys, but this young man was very promising. But Cathy would later see something in Harry, and undergird him.
Cathy begins to mentor and teach Harry as he taught his own sons. Those precious moments he shares with the boys he would forever remember.

Rules and regulations are expected to be followed by each employee based on Christian principles. They use the Hierarchical, Departmentalization and Mechanistic methods. Hierarchical by trying to eliminate the number of layers they have, because employees report to managers and each restaurant has their own manager. Departmentalization because each employee is grouped by what they do and each group has a specific function. Those employees can be used in different roles. Mechanistic is used to clearly identify each job description for each employee. These job descriptions rarely change. Theses job descriptions apply to corporations, operators, managers and front line
