There were six major provisions for the treaty that stated Britain and King George III had to recognize that the United States was now an independent country and free from their rule. People who had fought for the country, or its rights, best understand the patriotism. It started when Britain started to have tighter reigns on their government. They prohibited settlement in the west, which angered the colonists. Worse than that they didn’t have enough money to support themselves. They started to pass different acts and taxed to get more money. The first continental congress first began to fight for independence. Britain had some advantages, such as a strong army as did the Americans. George Washington’s leadership of the army and the help of the French contributed to the US
