Hitler was responsible for the deaths of six million jews and utter destruction throughout Europe during World War II. And while nobody in their right mind would call Hitler a good man, he displayed many qualities of a good leader. Through these qualities, Hitler was able to convince millions of people to join him in his mission. Effective leaders must exhibit a specific set of qualities in order to attract and retain followers. Enthusiasm and charisma are essential in gaining attention and attracting a crowd. Hitler was a very charismatic man and a persuasive orator, full of passion and enthusiasm, his speeches always managed to captivate crowds and he was able to relate to the public. Flexibility, and the ability to adapt are not often thought of as one of Hitler’s strong suits, but after the (Beer Hall) Putsch failed in 1924, Hitler and his conspirators had a change in tactics, instead choosing to gain power legally by winning elections (#2). This strategy proved surprisingly effective, as Hitler’s power grew until he was proclaimed Chancellor of Germany in 1933 (#2 ). And despite a poor childhood and the lack of faith in him by his superiors, Hitler became the most powerful leader in Germany. Hitler’s persistence lead to the rise and inevitable fall of his empire, initially proclaimed “Thousand Year Reich”. His innovation created jobs and seemed to pull Germany out of a depression and unify the people against a common enemy.
