For this assignment the writer is goal is to see how social issues effect people and society as a whole and the effects of the outcome. “The Help” directed by Tate Taylor, takes place in 1963 during the time where white and black races were segregated from each other which was the belief of “separate but equal”. Eugenia “Skeeter” Phelan is the main protagonist who writes a novel about the perspectives of black maids since many of them raised white children, but they later became the maid’s bosses who would constantly mistreat them. “The Help” signifies social justice in which the maids are able to have a voice while being anonymous so that the people in town don’t give them any violence because of it. The paper consists of six core values of the social work profession that are displayed throughout the movie.

One theme that was used is when Skeeter gains trust of the black maids who are able to tell their stories. They thought they were going to get in trouble for writing their stories, but Skeeter reassures them that theirs nothing to fear since she won’t tell anyone it was them.
