The nineteenth century was the time of the Industrial Revolution. The century was filled innovation and discovery in many subjects. Many of the inventions that were created during the nineteenth century change American history forever ("Science-Technology”). Also because of industrialization, cities became the center of populations. This caused there to be a demand for cheap housing. Many immigrants lived in their housing that lacked hygiene, running water, toilets, and space. These cramped conditions lead to the spread of diseases. Edison 's invention of electricity had a large impact on society. It first reduced fires by gas lamps, which provided people with more safety. Electricity also lead the way for other inventions, like the television, radio, refrigerator, and anything else that runs on electricity (Danelek). The lightbulb also lengthened people 's daily lives. For instance, when it became dark outside that signaled the end of the day, but now this light bulbs people could stay awake longer and do work. Edison continues to bring hope to people today. His invention lead to the modern world. Without his creation of electricity people would probably not have the internet (Nguyen).
