Scott fitzgerald uses the unique narrative view to show how nick progresses as a person through the events of the novel. At the beginning of the novel nick tells us that he will be a good narrator as he has learned to not judge people too quickly, "i am inclined to reserve judgement". This quote from nick shows that he feels as though he is a reliable narrator and that everyone deserves a chance before they are too harshly judged.
