The influence of religion, family, friends, culture, and even the media can influence who we are. Yvonne religion, her parents’ values, and her friends ideas of the norm all were considered in the decisions of her life choices. Through a functional perspective, relationships serve as a part of society to connect us. Relationships would unite those in society who share the same values, passions, and ideas. People are functioned to be pieced together with someone else. Therefore, everyone should have someone who they are bonded to. Society have someone for everyone to share those same values with. Yvonne pointed out that there are over seven billion people in the world, so she believes her partner is out there.
Overall, waiting on all the aspects of a relationship is worth it. Yvonne expressed how it was acceptable to not always follow through with our own plans, she conveyed this matter with the agents of socialization such as her faith, and she made several crucial points about waiting.
