The girls that are bought for the sex trade are given quotas on a nightly basis and if those quotas are not met, the trafficker forces abuse against the victims (Perkins). The emotional abuse is put into action to scare the victims. They are manipulated by being lured with false promises of jobs or better lives but once they are put into the sex industry they are often isolated, renamed and even branded (Sex Trafficking in the US). Nearly 20% of trafficking victims are children (UNODC Report on Human Trafficking Exposes Modern Form of Slavery). The average age of youth victims is between 11 and 14 and these kids are often subjected to the sex trade and prostitution, too (UNICEF).
