The Ancient Egyptians’ religion was polytheistic, meaning they worshiped many, many gods. In the early times of their religion, each town had its own god, along with a number of minor gods. Everyone worshiped these town gods, not just the inhabitants of the town. And as a town’s importance grew, their god got all buffed up in importance along with it.
