Becoming more educated in healthcare management nurses will be able to function effectively in a leadership role. These nurses will learn how to advocate for their staff and patients. They will also learn how work side by side with different disciplines and caregivers to have great patient outcomes and staff satisfaction. Nurses need to take personal responsibility for growing personally and professionally. When nurses increase their education this in turn will make them better leaders. Some of the courses required of a bachelorette prepared nurse would help to make a well-rounded leader. Also a nursing residency program would help nurses learn in a hands on environment to become successful leaders. Also the IOM report states the importance of research.
