In the United States, seventeen percent of children are obese. That means that approximately 12.7 million children are affected in the United States (Childhood Obesity Facts). Obesity is defined as being twenty percent above the estimated range based on height and age. Childhood obesity can be genetically, medically, or physically obtained. Also, this condition can cause many serious issues that can possibly be fatal. In order to overcome this issue children must lose weight and eat nutritious foods. This paper will explain the risk factors of obesity and how to achieve healthy weight loss.

This means that the parents must understand obesity is problematic and they must be willing to make lifestyle changes. Usually if a child is obese, it reflects how the parents eat too. In some cases it is genetic, but most of the time it is no physical activity, high calorie intake and poor routines (Childhood Obesity Facts). Physical activity is a very important role in maintaining a healthy weight. Children have high metabolism, which means they consume a lot of food because they are constantly growing. However, if the child is not active then the food will be stored as fat and not worked off. They will consume too many calories and become obese with many health risks. There are many ways to instill activity is by taking away video games, television and tablets. These items are all wonderful technology that kids enjoy, but there must be a limit for how much time they can spend on them. Sign the child up for sports teams which will get them involved with other kids and also be physically active. Also, parents can take the child to a park and play with them. If the child is shy then the park would be the best way to get them active. This way they can play with the parents and be at ease. Another bad habit that parents have is eating out and not setting a proper diet. This world is a very fast paced environment; therefore, there is very little time. The problem is that a lot of parents grab fast
