Anyways, the Quaternary period is a period in the Cenozoic Era - which still exist to present day. The Quaternary period had some major climate swifts which again affected the plants and animals environments. For example in the Pleistocene epoch the Woolly Mammoth and other large Herbivores had existed until the very beginning of the Holocene Epoch possibly because of the last "ice age". Anyways, some of the animals that exist are the African elephants, rhinoceroses,hippopotamuses and many more. The biggie in this period though is the existence of the modern day humans which started about 200,000 years ago.
