Drug use by women during their pregnancies show a wide spread of health problems during and after the pregnancies. The amount of cocaine that is used during a pregnancy will determine how bad and how long these effects will last. The National Household Survey on Drug Abuse indicated that 2.8% of women used illicit drugs while they were pregnant and cocaine was one of the main ones. Both Opiate and Cocaine exposure are correlated to premature birth and lower birth weight.
