Having an international military campaign assists in keeping dangerous people and materials out of the country, protecting our infrastructure, and building a capable response agency. The United States has improved its ability to protect our homeland security from terrorist threats and attacks from foreign countries by strengthening the nations defense, scanning for radiation, and requiring documents when crossing land borders. After being plunged into a worldwide involvement of terrorism, the General Assembly adopted a measure to prevent terrorists from obtaining chemical, and nuclear weapons. Terrorism creates fear in America for many people, and by increasing the amount of wars the United States is involved in our citizens only feel a greater sense of terror and distress. Bush’s Administration has put America into many more long conflicts with other countries that result into wars and casualties. As a result from beginning a global war campaign, 1.3 million deaths had been recorded in 2015 due to a United States led “War on Terror” (www.mintpressnews.com). In 2011, the cost to supply the Global War on Terrorism campaign was at an immense size of $5 trillion (Zakaria, “Terrorism Breeds Terrorism”). Bush’s military campaign has led to our country going into more debt, while this money could be benefiting Americans in a much more affective way. Critics say that the “War on Terror” is an ideology of fear which results in enemies and leads to violence among people rather than making security stronger (www.globalpolicy.org).
