It induced a whole new way of thought; romanticism was being left behind in exchange for classicism, science and logical thought. Charles Dickens described that there was “fact, fact, fact, everywhere in the material aspect of the town” and “fact, fact, fact, everywhere in the immaterial.” He went on mentioning “the M’Choakumchild school was all fact, and the school of design was all fact.” For many, this new way of thinking, fact and logical thought, was a wonderful thing indeed.
