Much of modern day Christianity is migrating from “rigorous Bible study” (Williams 705) to waiting for Sundays to come around to get their weekly fix. However, that is not how it should be. The Word of God is the cornerstone of Christianity for it holds promises and truths given from God. It is a road map to help Christ followers navigate a chaotic world that challenges the thought of God at every turn. Not only does it help give peace it prepares the heart for battle. It is important for the reader to get to know God and his will on a personal level. However, Mcfague believes “when we talk about God, we do not really know who/what God is” (Setyawan 51). According to Mcfague, it is nearly impossible to know who God is. Though if a person knew scripture it would be obvious that is not true. Scripture is God-breathed and explains exactly who God is. It is important to know the Word in context and know it as a whole so it cannot be twisted. For even the devil knew scripture but twisted it to his liking. In response, Jesus counteracted the devils twisted words with more scripture. Jesus was ready and had scripture in the “vault of his heart” (Pastor Wootton) to fight Satan. So as today's world will try to switch and sugar coat scripture; knowing scripture helps one keep on the path to
