The animal like appearance symbolize that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but it also symbolizes that you have look inside a person to discover who they are. The animal like appearance made the men behave like actual animals at a time, and made it harder for their counterparts to love them. The life of the beast was tied to a rose, given to him by a witch, and once the last petal was shed so will the life of the beast. The pig king had nothing tying his life to anything, and that’s very different from the modern version adaptation.
Beauty is a very important symbolism throughout both of the stories. Bell and the youngest sisters were both more beautiful than their sisters, and the villagers around them. The Beast was turned into a hideous monster because he would not help an old, wretched hag who knock on her door. The Pig kings first two wives were so vain, and only cared about beauty that it became their downfall in the end. The moral behind both stories is to look beyond what you see, and always give a person a chance no matter what they look
