In the second chapter of the book, “Breakdown”, Charles Eisenstein wrote about how vision of the future has been lost. Typically speaking, most people will have a general outline of what the future will be like. But like many other factors, it is unpredictable. Many events, wars, riots, racism, and much more have been going on. In the recent years, tragic events have occurred without us expecting it to happen. The shooting in Orlando, the attack in France, the killings of many innocent African Americans, and even Donald Trump taking the lead in the presidential candidacy. We are not able to predict when it will happen, but when it does occur, it is difficult to process the event. Especially if it continuously occurs and makes it onto big name television news. I, for one, am not the only one who can feel the whole atmosphere of the world change the moment something tragic occurs. With the continuity of such incidents occurring, it is difficult to imagine a more beautiful world. Much of what Charles Eisenstein says is something that I can agree with or opens my eyes to a new point of view. In the chapter “Interbeing” of the novel, it is said that people are being recognized for forming associations involving activism, political, social, or spiritual groups among the vast diverse groups. Although we the people are separate beings, we are one race; the human race. Coming together as one is crucial in making a change or fighting for what we believe in. In the latest events, many African Americans have been killed or treated in a racist manner by the police community, causing a large media outbreak. The multiple occurrences in the past year were more than enough to cause people including myself, to fight for what we believe in, which happens to be equality among all. The term “Black Lives Matter” is well supported all around the world by people of different ethnic background. Although the multiple killings of African American people have not been altered for the better, it has definitely captured the attention of those around the world. By coming together as a community, we can acquire our interbeingness and achieve what we believe in as a whole. However, as I see it, the term “interbeing” does not only refer to people.
