One of the main contributors of New Mexico becoming a state was manifest destiny. Manifest Destiny is the belief that the United States had the God given right to own all of the land from the East coast to the West coast. Manifest destiny is what drove the United States to annex all of the states, including New Mexico. Manifest destiny is what gave the United States the confidence, the encouragement, and the want the United States needed to continue its dream of manifest destiny and to make New Mexico a new state.
The Mexican-American war was fought by our ancestors, and the brave men that fought in that war were all willing to give their lives so that we could have a better life. So that we could be happier, and so we can have the freedom we need. The freedom we have but most other places on the world don’t have. We have the choice of religion, freedom to play the sports we want to play, freedom to get an education to one day support our families. As citizens of the amazing United States, we have the freedom to live freely as we would like to.
