The purpose of Morgan Spurlock's experiment was to see the effects that fast food has on your body. He also did this because of two young teenage girls who were suing McDonalds because they believed that the corporation made them obese. Morgan wanted to see if this was the truth or not. The five guidelines that Morgan had to follow during the experiment were as follows… #1. He can only Super Size when asked to #2.…
For our diffusion experiment our group decided to work with salt water and gummy bears. Our experiment tested the weight of the gummy bears per salt dilutions. Our tests included 1g 2.5g 5g, 1.5g, and 10g of salt diluted with water. We knew that the higher the concentration of salt diluted into the water the heavier the diffused gummy bear would be, therefore we measure weight as our numerical data. My hypothesis was that the 10g dilution of salt would have the gummy bear with the largest mass.…
Should the government regulate e-cigarettes younger and younger kids each year are using e-cigs. The e-cigarettes are a disgrace to the world such as poisoning kids and even worse the flavors attract kids and if these kids have friends, they could share with their friends and they would want to because of the flavors and the worst of it all the is the nicotine in the e-cigarettes and what it does to your body and health. Then a little kid drank the e-cigarette juice and ended up getting poisoned. The poison ended up making her pass away.…
At the beginning of this experiment, the experimenter asks the child to separate the cards into a white and black stack. After the child has done so, the experimenter asks the child to now separate the cards depending on the shape that is on the card: heart or a star. The child will tend to get less correctly when asked to stack the cards depending on their shape. This was very interesting because it goes to show that children tend to perseverate, which means that they tend to get stuck to thinking about the rules that they were initially exposed to. They do not chose to ignore the second set of rules; it is just too much for them to actually remember.…
“Supersize Me” Essay The purpose of Mr. Spurlock’s experiment was to test if Mcdonalds would affect his weight and health. He got this idea after people tried suing Mcdonalds for causing obesity in the US. Every meal of his for the next month would be from Mcdonalds. There were 4 rules in his experiment that he had to follow. Rule number one, must only eat food/drinks from Mcdonalds.…
The Revealers Test 1 Pages 1-54 2. One of the lines is “Hey, we didn’t bring this to give it to you. We came looking for you ‘cause we think it sucks.” This makes me feel that he’s “part of the group” because Russell is standing up for Catalina. Another line is “So I want to know what we do.…
Valerie Strauss' article discusses how mass school shootings affect the education of students who survive, on the Washington Post. Apparently, ever since the 1999 Columbine High School massacre, the amount of students who experienced mass shootings increased, according to a Washington post analysis. In addition, there is very little research on the psychological effects of the survivors of a school shooting. Unfortunately, there seems to be more research on the motivations behind the perpetrators.…

On October 15th, I participated in an experiment called “#673 Goals & Memory.” Brandon Magenheim was the conductor of this experiment. It is a three-credit experiment due to its longer involvement. The first part consisted of various activities that lasted for about an hour.…
As alluded to in her book, A Disease Called Childhood, in chapter seven, entitled “Let Food be Thy Medicine”, Marilyn Wedge claims that though there are some legitimate diagnoses of ADHD that are in need of attention and possibly medication, a child’s diet may be a sizable factor of their behavior. Wedge cites John E. Huxsahl from Mayo Clinic, using his article on processed foods to help her claim that food consumption can have a relation to ADHD. I agree with Wedge’s argument on multiple occasions that I will refer to throughout this essay; including personal experiences, experiments, and how other countries tackle additives in food. When my brother, Konnor, was younger, he was diagnosed with multiple behavioral disorders due to his inability…
During the early childhood years of life, children depend on the care and nourishment from their guardians. It is up to their guardians to make the overall life decisions for their children. They are the ones who supply the loving nurture and support through the period of development. One very important decision that a guardian must make for their child is their education. Education is a very crucial part to a child’s overall growth and development.…
If a child is suspected to have a developmental delay they will be evaluated. These skills are age related and will vary by age. The evaluations will take place in such areas as gross motor skills, which encompasses the usage of large muscle groups for movement. These movements include walking, running, and sitting. Gross motor skills are also important for balance.…
