To be humble includes being grateful for even the littlest things. All parents know that children can be ungrateful even to the point that they seem stuck up. This adds the immaturity found in children. "Immature children presume they deserve everything good that happens to them." Elmore stated,"Mature people see the big picture and realize how good they have it, compared to most of the world's population." Believing that everything good in the world comes easily and that having it all was all them is a sign of immaturity. To be mature means understanding that hardwork is a necessity. To truely be considered mature people need to see the world through grateful eyes. With gratitude comes wisdom. Elderly people are usually the happiest and wisest people a person will ever meet. There is a reason those two things are always used side by side. Wise people are the happiest and most grateful people in the world. Because they are wise they know that gratitude brings happiness. Not only are wise people helpful to others but they are constantly searching for wisdom and growth. They are growing and never stop to take a break. In the Marks of Maturity, it states, "They don't presume they have all the answers. The wiser they get the more they realize they need more wisdom. Many people have different views on how to raise children but overall, the definition of a mature person is as said above. They have character, priority, wisdom, gratitude, humility, commitment and are not shaken by flattery. All of these things seem complicated and hard to teach but the power of example is the best way to raise mature young adults. Tim Elmore quotes Susan Peters, "Children have a much better chance of growing up if their parents have done so first." Don't patronize them, just show them through example how to act as a mature adult and help them everyday to improve themselves and sooner than later they will grow to be a mature and happy
