Another reason why China tends to be healthier in the nutritional department than America, is because they like to experiment with mixing together certain foods that will benefit them the most. Furthermore, research has actually shown this to be true as well. As Lam, Lee, & Ip (2010) say about the typical Chinese diet, Chinese soups consist of various meats, bones, vegetables, beans, and Chinese herbs, are also common in many households. However, when it comes to China and their nutritional factors, China has much larger problems with diabetes than America does. The reason behind this, is because of the fact that they consume white rice often, which is actually linked to the cause of diabetes in China. As “If White Rice is Linked to Diabetes, What About China?” states, “Protein consumption can exacerbate the insulin spike from high glycemic foods” (para.1). This is also true for Americans, but the difference is that China often finds their protein in rice, which is a main staple of their diet. As a result, they are much more known to have cases of diabetes than Americans do, since the insulin spike is much higher. This is a good example of how when one cuts back on fatty foods, they need to be careful of the things that they constantly consume. The reason being, is because too much of something is never good for us. As “Factors that Influence Dietary Choices: Gender, Culture & Other Issues” says, although certain healthy diets that one chooses to have may be purely personal dietary choices, people need to take care and consideration into what they are actually consuming. An example of this would be vegetarians seeking out protein sources other than meat in order to stay healthy (para.3).
