I chose to do my report on autism because I find it to be an interesting and strange disorder. When I say strange I do not mean this in a negative way, but I mean that it is unique. When I was a freshman in high school I was asked to FTA in the special education room. I knew a couple of the kids that where in there already, but not all of them.

The cause of the disease is unknown, but it is thought to be influenced by genetics and the environmental factors. Although there is no definite cause some factors can influence the likely hood of autism. Older age of the mother and prematurity can sometimes influence your child being autistic. Along with that multiple births such as twins increases the chances for autism. Although the idea has been expressed for many years, vaccines have no effect on the likelihood of autism.
The symptoms of autistic children can vary a lot. Autism can show up early or take longer to develop the signs. One big red flag of autism is that the child is not showing emotions such as smiling or they are not making any sounds. Although those signs can be detected in the young at any age autism can be noticed in those who avoid eye contact or prefer to be completely alone.

People with autism use their brain differently which also makes it more common for them to also be very good when it comes to their mathematic skills. This is one way that shows us that autism is not just linked to problems.
There long term memory is just as good as their math skills. Although there could be a struggle when it comes to remembering recent happenings they can recall things that happened a long time ago. Not only do they remember things, but they remember everything about them.
Along with all of these traits there are many other abilities that those with autism are ahead of us at. They are very creative, and they can do the same task for an extended period of time. They are also good at things that are repetitive, this is because they do not prefer to make a change and like to stay doing something that they are comfortable with.
When communicating with someone with autism it is important that you are very direct. Say exactly what you mean to them and don’t speak with confusing words. Also try to interact with those with autism. Although they might be alone they might want to interact with others but they can't figure out how to do
