In the United States, a person who is poor is one who is in the lowest social class known as the “Poverty Level.” In agreement with Quora.com’s questionnaire, some of the reasons why people are considered poor is if they lack on one of the following: inherited assets, skills, education, motivation, and savings. Two important elements of all those mentioned before that are the main cause to why people end up being in poverty are the lack of education and inherited assets. Having a lack of education can simply mean, dropping out of school or just not being able to attend or graduate from a High School or college. This causes people to be ineligible for high paying jobs, and many other opportunities. People in poverty also have their own culture, a culture that gives them different beliefs and values, it causes them to be in a Cycle of poverty. The cycle of poverty is a cycle where poor people and their families become indigent for at least three generations. Based on the Gallup report from U.S. News, “nearly 31 percent of adults who lived below the poverty line in 2011 said they had been diagnosed with depression at some point, almost twice as high as the rate for those not in poverty — 15.8 percent.” Unlike other social classes, the poverty level is the one that suffers the most when it comes to health problems.
