These scandals demonstrate the flaws within of the government. The citizen’s confidence level the Louisiana state government can be swayed negatively by these unethical actions. For example, the scandal of republican legislator Mike Yenni, who was allegedly involved in sexting a young boy 17 of years of age (Elura). This act shows how Yenni used his influence and position to victimize a minor. One historical scandal, which happened back in 1993, that has been broadcasted by Radio talk host David Tyree, is the scandal referred to as the “tuitiongate”. On his radio show, Mr. Tyree has taken the time to slowly unfold the political corruption of Louisiana legislators. He pointed out that legislators were using tax dollars to send their family members or close friends to the expensive Tulane University for free all while other student in need suffer without the financial resources to attend a school of such caliber (Boulard). One last example of these scandals involves the Louisiana democrat, Bill Jefferson that allegedly took $400,000 in bribes by a tech company in Kentucky. The governor’s 2016 regular legislative session successes list several issues that were addressed and resolved by laws put in place. For example, in regards to children and family services, the Raise the Age Act includes 17-year-old in the Louisiana juvenile justice system. This Act was set in place to hold children accountable for their actions against the law. In addition, Heath care was addressed by the creation of the Louisiana Family Caregiver Act.
