Society mostly calls these people illegal immigrants or undocumented, but the professional way that they are called is illegal alien. Yes, they are called “illegal alien” since they are not citizens of the United States. But after many years of people trying to convince the government to have deferred action to allow young adults have a green card or become U.S. citizens. The President Obama created the program Deferred Action of Childhood Arrivals (DACA). This program helps illegal immigrants from the ages from sixteen to thirty-one year olds have the ability to have more job choices and be able to advance their education. To be eligible for this program, there are many qualification requirements that the applicant must achieve. The applicant must have entered the United States before June 2007 and must have entered before they have turned sixteen years old. The DACA program is a renewable two- year work program and prevents illegal immigrants from getting deported. She has been living in the United States since she was around three or four years old. She had to grow up without having the chance to meet her family like her grandparents or any of her family who live in Mexico because once she returns to Mexico, there is most likely no way that she will be able to return to the United States. Maria has spent most of her life living the country life of Eastern North Carolina and all she has ever known is life in the United States. But if she had been deported before she was accepted into the DACA program then she would have had to adapt into the new form of life in Mexico. Not only their way of living but also the way that their school systems were there. She would have had to go through the same situation that she did when she was a little girl and her parents decided to move to the United States. Maria’s parents have gone through more than eleven years without seeing any of their family members or loved ones who live in Mexico. They had to sacrifice not seeing their loved ones for so many years because they believed that their children lives would be better, living in the United States. There were points when they barely feed their children, who were, at the time, in kindergarten and second grade. Like Maria’s parents did not have enough money to feed their children due that it is harder for them to find a job there are
