The article explains that the CEO of Abercrombie & Fitch made quite a few condescending remarks in advertisements spread worldwide in a Salon article, “In every school, there are the cool and popular kids, and then there are the not-so-cool kids. Candidly, we go after the cool kids.We go after the attractive all-American kid with a great attitude and a lot of friends. A lot of people don’t belong [in our clothes], and they can’t belong. Are we exclusionary? Absolutely.” Which can easily be proven by their line of clothing. Most of their clothing sizes vary from a double zero to a whopping five, which is absolutely and positively wrong to place out in the market. Wrong to place such slim-wear clothing out on the market because a lot of the boys, girls, women and men do not have such a slim body type. A lot of them do not fit into a zero or size small. It affects body image negatively because the brand praises such slim men and women, not to mention that it is completely unrealistic to what both genders normally look like, and that can cause people to think negatively of their bodies and want to change it drastically. Women and men do not deserve to be put in such a devastating place because of their normal body shapes or sizes.
This is why agencies should promote healthy body images. Their lack of showing such a thing leads to unhealthy acts. These children face so many inner struggles because of the things they see on the television, or fashion shows, or advertisements. So, I do believe fully that it is the agency's responsibility to promote healthy and common body types. Healthy deserves to be praised more than sickeningly
