Majority of my teachers throughout high school had the same rule, and it was to always leave your grammar mistakes alone until revising your essay. I seemed to do fairly well on most assignments, but not exceptionally well. For example, I remember one paper that I struggled with, and my teacher, Mrs. Taylor, offering me some guidance in my writing styles. One of her comments stated: “Do not get lost when writing informative things, always stay on topic to keep you readers in sync.” I learned many things from her class and more importantly that comment. I have certain things in writing that I excel in, and are the only things that make me like and continue to pursue writing. One of those things that I consider as a strength of mine is my ability to correlate things into my writing. Another one of the things I consider to be one of my strengths is my creativity. Allegra Goodman explains, “The longing to write knows no bound” (323). In this quote Allegra Goodman relates her ability to free write and not have a stopping point, such as I have in my creative writing. When you get lost in your writing experience it is hard to come out of, especially if you envision the things in which you are writing
