That said, it isn’t automatic and it’s not necessarily easy to accomplish: But if there has not been damage caused to brain function as a result of the abuse, sobriety can be maintained. Complete and thorough sobriety is best accomplished through treatment and education.
Addiction is an entirely different matter. When substance abuse morphs into addiction the individual has lost control over the addictive substance, and their life. It is a drug rehab facility practicing evidence-based therapy in conjunction with the 12-step approach. Therapies are designed for each individual according to their needs. Programs options may include hypnotherapy, motivational interviewing techniques, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy. Dual diagnosis treatment is provided on an as-needed basis for those experiencing one or more co-occurring mental disorders such as PTSD, anxiety, depression, or obsessive-compulsive behaviors.
