Would demand for space exploration increase? My answer awaited me in a journal I found using JSTOR, a database with plenty of peer reviewed sources. The authors Ellis and Faricy explain how the public is a factor when governments make financial decisions. They found empiric examples that backed the idea that spending done by the government had strong ties to what the public opinion was. Using this as a measure, governments would allocate more money to those sectors, and in some cases, that would provide incentives for private firms as a way to increase the outcome without having to use government funds (Ellis 2016).
