Even though socialization is important in the life of a college student, there may still be some students who just go by themselves every day. The role of socialization can be related to the acquaintance of each individual in the norms of a society or a social group. According to Nearing (1911), a society may be similar to the river who tends to seek for adjustments in every formation or changes in the environment through the means of fitting in with the surroundings. Nearing (1911) uses the river as the representation of a society who adjusts itself in a changing weather of an environment. The man is the one who adjusts in the society and not the society adjusting for the man. Adjustment is a process where man embrace a new learning, ethics, rules and traditions. When a person learns how to adjust easily in an environment, it will now be easy for the society and man to work effectively and to blend in without complications. As the students prioritize their academic performance and allot much of their time studying, it might cause ignorance on obtaining enjoyment for social experiences even within the campus. If one has a busy schedule, they still need to face the real life through socialization and enhance it to make it more fun and meaningful. Balancing academic and social life accords the students for a hard time. According to the study conducted by Wilson (n.d.), it is not that easy to change those routines or habits that people always do. It takes time to enhance and develop those habits and will take a little time to learn new strategies. Learning it can be not only by oneself but can learn it together with peers and students to develop their social abilities and their own lives. Especially when the student is in first year college, there is a big adjustment not just with the schedule of courses but also in a more complex environment.
