Hitchens writes: GOD IS NOT GREAT [the headline] on the front page, which is very intimidating as it feels like someone is yelling directly at you. This is his way to bring out his purpose and message with the book. The context of the publication cannot be ascertained.
The major claim lies in the headline: “- How religion poisons everything”. Generally, the text is strongly critical to(wards) religion and religious convictions from all over the world. Not only the Christianity and Islam gets criticized – also Buddhism, Judaism, and Hinduism get blamed of being poisoned.
