In the same way as drinking alcohol, you can get completely drunk off of power if you abuse it and do not know your limits. Your well-being is something you must watch over and should be high priority, especially when you hold overwhelming power. An apparent example of poor maintenance of life due to power would be King Macbeth of the play Macbeth. Macbeth did a decent job of maintaining himself before he found out he was going to be King of Scotland. Although, after he gained his place on the throne and finally became King. He began to see hallucinations of many disturbing images, such as a bloody dagger. He also became paranoid that his closest friends and most trusted soldiers would overthrow him, take his life and kingship. As a result, Macbeth began to kill those that he suspected of being treacherous and a threat. This led his former friends and allies to seek revenge on King Macbeth by murdering him, which was a success. Macbeth had blatant paranoia, and instead of treating his paranoia properly, he charged his paranoia by choosing to kill and betray the people that he once loved and trusted, which lead to the ultimate downfall of Macbeth.
When power takes the best of you, you begin to make bad choices and you suffer the ultimate consequences. At first, power may be good, but it will most likely hurt you. It can also hurt your loved ones, and ultimately, it can destroy yourself. These negative outcomes are all based on whether you make the right decisions and how you use your power. There is no such thing as a leader that is not corrupt, if only we as a society could achieve the point where power-hungry corruption does not
