The schools all over the United States do not have adequate physical education programs due to the fact that it’s not enforced to participate. Most schools starting with elementary schools do not require a lot from the students. There is an inadequate physical activity done in elementary schools all over the country. As students enter middle school and high school, the requirement for physical education goes up, and also for high school. Most of these schools do not expect much from their students regarding physical education. Therefore, there are very many students that do not have the knowledge of a healthy lifestyle. The reason I decided I would write about this specific topic is because overall, education does come first for all students that desire to succeed. But also living a healthy lifestyle and knowing a healthy a lifestyle is important for every student in America. It does not matter the state that the students are in, because in the end all that really matters is that students comprehend the knowledge of being physically active. Although there are many schools that already have standards given by the Board of Education, each and every single student should be positively physically educated individuals that will have the confidence, knowledge, and skills to enjoy their lives in a healthy lifestyle. There was a survey taken by parents in 2009 and they all thought that the idea of having physical education in schools was a very good idea (Burgeson) Many of those that took their time to do the survey agree on the fact that physical education is as important as any other subject in school for students. Also physical education in schools for children and older students helps boost their performance in every area in class and outside of class. An example and studies show that more performance was better for students. “Adolescents with low cardio respiratory endurance levels were more likely to have worse academic performance” (SantosdeCastro) this shows that not only does physical education benefit students’ health and knowledge of a healthy lifestyle, but it also helps them in school and outside of school. As a student I can agree with the fact that physical education does boost one’s energy. With a certain amount of physical activity every week, it helps with participation at school and work.
