Financial aid is a very large problem in modern society with kids who are striving to make it to college for further education. Said simply, college is expensive. This specifically depends on the type of college one chooses to attend. Often times, in state college is more affordable than out of state, because there is something called ‘in state tuition.’ This higher education tends to be very expensive for a plethora of reasons. The first major reason is the fact that college professors are supposedly smarter or have a broader understanding of the study area than do high school teachers. Though in a college like Patrick Henry, my studies and faith will hold the utmost importance, I will need to make time for a job to keep at least a small amount of income, causing the lift of my parent’s burden of sending me money for food and other necessities. Two years ago, I worked at a local coffee shop, The Coffee Cabin, and so I am capable of the barista ability. I can see this quality becoming very useful in college, possibly giving me an opportunity to work on the college campus, as many campuses have coffee shops. This is rightly so, because college students often do not retain much sleep, much less eight hours a night! Therefore, many colleges have a coffee shop that is put to good use. However, if I am not able to put this quality to work in college, I am completely willing to waitress, as I have been a server at Firenze here in Worland, also. Though if neither of these plans end up working out, I will always have the option to learn something new, get a new kind of job. I am very open to this idea. Many college students drop out of school or ‘take a break’ (never to return) because they do not want to collect too much debt and not be able to finish in the end. The main idea and goal I have to avoid this issue is to continue with my education no matter what, so that I will be able to finish with a degree, and then begin to worry about the debt. With a good faith and work ethic, I am unstoppable, and the financial burden of college will need to be small. It is important that in today’s society, we do not put too much strain on college students and young adults about money. It is better to finish and pay debt than quit and pay debt, is this not the reality? College will no doubt be a financial burden, however, when the students focus on the most important part of college, their studies, the financial burden will be lifted as they get closer and closer to their graduation
