Lord Siva appeared as an extraordinary object all of sudden. They then decided that He who first ascertain the limits of the extraordinary object shall be acknowledged as the greater one. After thousand years of attempt, both returned discomfited and humiliated and confessed the vast superiority of Siva. With this, it is proven that Lord Siva is the ultimate God with the greatest divinity.
In South Asia, devotees fast all day in preparation to worship Lord Siva from evening until early dawn. They sing hymns and praises in the name of Lord Siva.
