From 1933 to 1945 Germany was under control of Adolf Hitler, a man who denied his citizen’s their basic human rights and instead controlled all aspects of their lives with violence and fear. Adolf Hitler, Fuhrer of Germany was a ruthless tyrant during his term in office from the 30th of January 1933 to the 30th of April 1945. Hitler used education, bribery, rewards and campaigns to control his people and to benefit his ideals and beliefs. He targeted groups in society that did not fit into his master Aryan Race with cruel and unjust punishments. However the most indecent act against humanity that Hitler committed was the extermination of European Jews- ‘The Final Solution’.

Hitler used the Education system to control the German public and instil fear into all of the citizens that did not fit into volksgemeinschaft. In Nazi Germany education was the main tool by which Hitler could implement his racial policies and isolate the Jewish population. In order for Hitler to have his perfect Aryan Race all Jewish and other racially undesirable teachers were sacked along with children being banned from attending schools that pure blooded German children attended. Education was crucial for Hitler’s rise to power because he needed to cultivate a loyal following. To be allowed to teach teachers had to be a member of the Nazi party. All textbooks created before 1933 were destroyed or banned from schools. The Nazis rewrote all programs and curriculum so that is corresponded with Hitler’s ideals. Because Germany had recently lost a war physical fitness was seen as more important than academic performance as Hitler wanted to create a youth that was strong and healthy so students had up to five lessons a week of Physical Education. The German pubic believed that they were free and that Hitler was doing the right thing by them, however what they didn’t understand at the time was that all the rewards and bribes that Hitler was introducing was to manipulate them into giving up information about unwanted groups in society (Jewish people mainly) and to make them look the other way when he carried out his evil punishments. It is easy to understand how the non-Jewish citizens in Germany were manipulated by Hitler’s rewards and bribes because of what state they were left in after WW1. The First World War saw Germany’s economy in chaos and her people desperate for a leader that would pull them from the depression they were experiencing. Hitler offered the people of Germany hope and a brighter future if they simply followed the rules and did as they were told. Many of the rewards the Nazi party created were linked to marriage and children. Hitler wanted a strong Aryan youth so in order to achieve that goal men and women would be given loans equivalent to half a year’s pay and if the couple had more than four children they would not have to pay back the money. Mothers would be awarded with a bronze medal if they had four children, Silver if they had six and Gold if they had
