Students that are oblivious to these certain deadlines can cause students to unintentionally fall behind. It takes roughly two weeks to process an average FAFSA forms and sometimes longer if you are required to submit special forms. It would be understandable in a situation where this became a pattern for a student, but I have witnessed even some of the best students receive an “F”. The grant money, although helpful, isn’t nearly enough to support a young adult for an entire semester so students are often busy with work, as well as important social lives, and sometimes have to deal with family or relationship problems. To have to deal with all of these already stressful, yet important, aspects of college life and then have to pay the school back money because you didn’t pass one class can be very discouraging, and can even cause some students to drop out. This way, students would have warning before being charged fees and when uncontrollable things happen in life that affect a student's grade, it wouldn’t completely derail their school
