Kat and I drove to the scene separate from Angelica (AJ: CSI) to Magnolia. When we arrived at the scene which took over an hour to get to, media was already present along with curious neighbors. Kat and I waited outside the house of the victims as we got there before AJ. The crime scene process is simple but complicated. We are given shoe covers and gloves to wear throughout the entire crime scene process. First, overall photographs are taken of the exterior of the house and street along with street signs. The male victim was on the floor in the living room. There was a note on the floor next to the female. Surprisingly, the smell of the dead bodies was not horrible as the decomposed bodies were in a temperature controlled room. More pictures are taken of the scene including more close-up photographs of the victims. After the evidence is collected, the placards are picked up. A final run through of the scene is conducted along with the detectives to ensure all evidence and photographs needed have be taken care of. The crime scene investigator and detectives release the bodies to the funeral home. For chain of custody purposes, the bodies have a body tag and which I wrote in the notes the identification numbers of the tags for each victim as well as the times the tags were placed. The funeral homes take the bodies away and the scene is released back to the family and or owners of the home. The scene took a total of four hours to process.
