Duhigg states,”The problem is that your brain can’t tell the difference between bad and good habits, and so if you have a bad one, it’s always lurking there, waiting for the right cues and rewards” (pg 20). Changing a habit isn’t an easy task, it takes a bunch of willpower and motivation to change a habit. If it was so easy nobody would have a bad habit, everybody would a habit that would enjoy. My habit is a very common among my fellow peers. We all have that urge to procrastinate and to tell yourself that you'll do it later. What I've learned during my project is that habits can be quite difficult to get rid of. Duhigg states,”Once someone creates a new pattern, studies have demonstrated, going for a jog or ignoring the doughnuts becomes as automatic as any other habit” (pg 20).You really need serious motivation and determination to change a habit. This was the case for me as well, I needed to think how this will affect me in the future if I don't change my habit. This was my motivation that caused me to procrastinate less and do my homework on time. With a little determination and motivation you can accomplish anything in life including changing or getting rid of a bad habit. Duhigg states,”Habits shape our lives more than we realize”(pg 25).
