The findings of the assessment show that the self-management approach of asthma when adopted by these minority adolescents resulted in improved health outcomes such as a reduction in the level of morbidity due to asthma, reduced level of hospitalizations and urgent health care use and generally an improved level of self-management. Although this disease of the respiratory system happens more among people with a family history of the disease, other people with no family history of the disease might also be victims of the disease. The high morbidity level of asthma in different countries is worrying, and the economic burden of the disease is also detrimental at different levels including individual and societal levels. Therefore, there is need for an effective intervention to be developed. As seen, asthma has no cure, but there are different treatment and management approaches present today that have been developed to aid in the control of the disease. Sadly, most of these have not been effective enough. Medical care, pharmacological management practices have all presented considerable challenges.
