The goal of the research is to find out whether there exists certain connection between volunteerism …show more content…
When these assumptions are not met the results may not be trustworthy. There are three important assumptions to test before the analysis starts. First of all, regression assumes that variables have normal distributions. Although most of variables show distributions close to normal, the small amount of variable that shows abnormal distributions is analyzed by the another statistical method. Moreover, assumption of a linear relationship between the independent and dependent variables is necessary because standard multiple regression can only accurately estimate the linear relationship. The last assumption need to be satisfied is the assumption of homoscedasticity. A residual analysis and a fitness test are conducted to verify the assumption before the analysis …show more content…
Thus, the model satisfies the basic assumptions, normality and linearity, means multivariate linear regression model can produce reliable result.
The table only indicates factors that have significant impact on a particular response variable. There are three significant factors affecting two dimensions of volunteerism. The P-value shows these three factors are significant at 0.05-level. Age has a significant effect on the frequency of attending religious services. As the age getting older, the frequency of attending religious service increases. According to the dataset, household income and how many people live with have effect on the frequency of volunteering in nonprofits in Newaygo County.
The above two graphs show the model also satisfies basic assumptions. Comparing to the previous model, the multivariate linear model fits much better for model Social capital VS Volunteerism and
