Tyson Foods, Inc. v. Bouaphakeo I. Introduction a. I picked the Tyson Foods, Inc. v. Bouaphakeo case as my topic for my research paper. In this paper I will focus on the fundamental changes during the beginning to end of the case. I will also analyze the important facts that plaintiff and defendant used to testify during the trial. b, Peg Bouaphakeo and several former and current employees of Tyson Foods, Inc. sued the company's meat processing facilities in Storm Lake, Iowa.…

There are a lot of on-going debates about the traditional grading system. Many argue that the system deters learning therefore; it should be overhauled and/or reformed. Alfie Kohn, an American author and educator that speaks and writes about education and parenting is very much opposed to the traditional grading system. In his essay “From Degrading to De-Grading”, Alfie Kohn argues against it, he claim that students are so grade driven that it reduces their interest in learning, creativity and preference for challenging tasks. Not only that, it also encourages cheating, disrupt curriculum and waste teachers’ time.…
Professor Jerry Farber’s article “A Young Person’s Guide to the Grading System” has the intention of persuading college students that the current grading system is not effective by using rhetorical questions to imply its inefficiency, pathos to provoke the reader, and specific diction to help the article resonate with the audience; he even proposes a new grading system. Faber’s solution to the current grading system is to change it entirely, and, in place, have students receive credit or no credit for classes. In this system of grading, receiving a no credit would not have a penalty on the student’s record, but, instead, the records would only have classes where the student earned a credit making this different from the pass-fail grading system.…
Furthermore, a revision of the Honor Code will not only limit cheating and plagiarizing, but it will ultimately prepare students for their future, with the understanding that breaking rules will end in a negative consequence. Students will evidently grow out of this habit and regain morals that will improve their honesty. The students at RVHS should be aware and constantly reminded that cheating and violating school rules will lead them to be rebellious, and dishonest people in the future who don’t value genuine qualities. With college as the next step of education students must learn that acts in violation of the code will not be tolerated and can end with the student being suspended or expelled (Source C). Moreover, these colleges and universities…
Recently, honor codes have become more present in the high school and college settings. Although it is sad that cheating, stealing information, and plagiarizing have become such a major problem in schools, one good thing is occurring from this: establishments of honor codes. I believe all schools, mine included, should work towards forming stronger honor codes and honor systems. The implementation of honor codes proves to lower the amount of cheating, improve the overall academic environment, and exponentially fit in any scholarly setting.…
The internet is an " Inexhaustible source of information" which makes it easier for students to cheat and plagiarize. Students are more likely to cheat because it's easier to do and it's extremely beneficial to them. Students can simply just insert phrases and even whole paragraphs directly into their essays or reports. Schools that have established honor codes have fewer reports of cheating. Honor codes at schools- typically student-…
My school should establish an honor code to ensure that students are getting the best out of their experience. The sources provided explain why an honor code is necessary in student life. Student input in what the honor code should include is an important part for success. As Source B shows, before a code was put in place, a student council revised it.…
The entire purpose of the honor code in any school, including ours, is based on the student populations’ integrity. This means that even when one is bystanding a bad behavior, that person would need to turn it in immediately. The students may have these strong moral principles, but do they have courage? To turn in a peer or maybe even friend can be hard to do when the confidentiality or one’s reputation is at stake. Students at Lawrence Academy ‘opposed this obligation to take action against another student because they did not see it as their responsibility.…
I firmly believe that I did not violate the Honor Code and am writing this statement to express my defense over these claims made against me. I take my education and future very seriously and would never jeopardize it. As I am a senior, I am currently applying to many well-known colleges and universities, and would never want to imperil my admissions chances over a homework assignment. Not only that, but I am also a DECA Officer, as well as, a National Honor Society member; two clubs that I am very dedicated to. I would never violate the Honor Code and threaten my involvement in those clubs.…
It is irrefutable that, to a considerable extent, legal and non-legal actions are effective in administering justice for consumers. Consumer law has continually evolved in order to maintain its ability to protect consumers within the ever-changing modern marketplace - progressing from the common law notion of caveat emptor to an intensive legal framework recognising the fundamental need for consumer protections. While much of this contemporary framework - comprised of statutory bodies, law courts and tribunals, and working in conjunction with a myriad of other non-legal avenues - is highly effective in its delivery of justice, there remain areas of concern currently inadequate in safeguarding rights. Thus, although legal and non-legal measures…
In recent studies, it has been projected that around 70% of college students violate their university’s honor code. Some may find these statistics to be surprising and alarming, but I am not one of those people. I think that these statistics can eye opening to many people, those people who have lacked exposure to a very competitive environment, however as someone who was exposed and participated in that competitive environment, I have experienced violations of the honor code many times over. As a student who grew up in the Research Triangle area in North Carolina, I was exposed to some of the greatest high schools and colleges not only in the country, but in the world.…
How would one come to a realization of the importance of honor if one never lives within its boundaries? How would one hold upon their own beliefs even while walking the lonely and forgotten path? How would one understand the importance of each action if one does not know its reaction? In today's society, honor is being disband by millennials. They no longer desire to become those heroes of the past who value their own honor.…
Honor codes/honor systems serve as a reminder to students to (especially) not cheat/plagarize. However, just how effective they are is up for debate. In my opinion, honor codes should be eliminated. Based on the documents given, they are excessive, ineffective, and sometimes extreme, I have concluded. To begin with, I see honor codes as excessive; it is a known rule not to cheat.…
She asserts, “An F is the type of work that you produce, if you turn in F quality work, then you deserve the F otherwise, an F should only be given when needed” (Jackson). When it comes to giving an F to a student you should only give it when needed. F’s should be based off the quality of their work and work…
