As she was a goddesses over a great deal of subjects; it's easy to see how she was the favorite of Zeus's children, although it didn't start that way. Athena was the child of another one of Zeus’s affairs, but in the wind came a voice which told Zeus that if Metis would bear a son, he would depose of him as he deposed of his father. Zeus knew then that he had to destroy her and that child, which caused him to swallow Metis along with her unborn child. Not long after he had done so he had a severe migraine and a feeling as if a sword was stabbing at his skull and was ready to burst out. Zeus had Hephaestus split his skull open, and as he did that a tall woman burst out dressed in a suit of armor. Even through that incident occurring; Zeus was more than delighted to meet his daughter, and from the way she had been born, she was then to be a goddess of intellectual activities. Athena appeared in many myths and legends, but the most famous was the battle between her and Poseidon for the city of Athens. Poseidon ruled over the sea but, after he grew tired of only having the sea he went on a search for a city he could claim. Apollo was the god of many things; of which include: poetry, music, art, oracles, archery, plague, medicine, sun, light and knowledge. Artemis, on the other hand, was the goddess of the hunt, forest, moon, archery, forests, and hills. While Leto was in labor, she could not push out Apollo because she had become very weak while running and hiding from Hera, who had banned her from giving birth anywhere light touched. As an infant, Artemis helped her mother push until Apollo was born. As the twins grew, Zeus favored them more and more for their extraordinary talents.
