The changes that in the political system occurred as a result of the enlightened ideas having influenced the colonist. These ideas took root in the colonies and became the dominant philosophical and political view of that time. The ideas consisted of several things, Natural Laws, Progress, Liberty and toleration. Each of which had its own meaning and significance to the colonies.

The enlightened thinkers opposed intolerance and superstition. They advocated full religious tolerance.
The Europeans society was governed by an absolute monarch who restricted essentially all human liberties; Speech, religion and trade. The main goal of the enlightened writers was to remove said limitations from their society.
The English monarch in comparison to the representative democracy that America had differed in many ways. In the monarchy the citizens had no representation. No one whom they could elect into power so they could make the decisions for the majority where they benefit. Instead what they had was a king and queen who was in power and ran the society however they pleases without any regard for anyone else. Making rash decisions that might not have been justified.
There were opportunities for women. There were opportunities for women to be educated. There was more of a chance now with this new government for women to actually be able to do something productive because they were no longer as limited as before. Previously a woman could be somewhat educated but they were limited to having it only able to apply to the house. Now they had some room to work with and were able to potentially accomplish
