Nuclear Power is being considered more as an energy source. Nuclear energy is the energy in the nucleus of an atom. Atoms are the smallest particles that can break a material. Each atom there are two kinds of particles: neutrons and protons. This energy can be obtained in two ways: fusion and nuclear fission. In nuclear fusion, atoms fused together forming only one atom, as a sun produce energy. In nuclear fission, atoms break in smaller atoms, only this way all nuclear plants produce energy. Nuclear fusion is not feasible although is in development. Nuclear plants produce energy exactly the same way that thermal power station operating with coal, oil or gas, only providing heat to the water is different …show more content…
The amount of radiation was 200 times higher than those issued by the bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945, Japan. About 2,500 people died in the accident and was recorded a large increase in cases of cancer until seven years later. After the accident, formed a cloud laden with radioactive substances that due to weather conditions, spread through the air and penetrated the soil. Contact with these substances had serious consequences for people 's health --lots of them developed cancer, circulatory problems and cataracts. In more severe cases, radiation changes the DNA of cells, causing them to lose their normal rhythm division and behave like cancer cells. This all identified long-term leukemia, manifested faster than other types of cancer, appears only in the irradiated people after at least six years. (World Nuclear Association, November 2014). Although the production of nuclear power there is almost no destructive effect on health, the effects when happen any accident are devastating and can die much more than any other accident. Big problems can emerge until long time of exposure to radioactivity and many diseases can developing such as different kinds of …show more content…
Any problem in the nuclear reactor can result in soil problems or serious disease; besides being a detriment to the economy. So, nuclear energy is a kind of dangerous energy. If society doesn’t take care, nuclear power may destroy 100% of the environment and many areas become restrict for people and animals. This energy cause too much diseases and health problems, developing many kinds of cancers and other diseases in short and long term. Moreover, this can result in billions of dollars to resolve these problems and it will become very expensive for the government. Any big problem with nuclear waste or any catastrophe result in millions of problems and any these problems will spend too much money for everyone because these accidents are a global problem. Also, this is not a sustainable source and is not an option to consider. It is important to know the history of nuclear power because it is dangerous and can cause serious problems in the world. With other kinds of energy, there are many benefits less harmful. Nuclear power must be the last resource
