Energy drinks develops their energy-boosting effects mainly from sugar and caffeine. Many active ingredient in this stimulant drinks contains taurine, glucuronolactone (Aleksandra), guarana, sucrose, glucose, vitamins, flavorings, other herbal supplements and coloring (Nicole) which increases the doses that stimulates the CNS and body. As a result of excessive consumption of caffeine along with other supplements within these drinks, consumers experience physical and psychological side effects. The study consisted of 795 students who completed an anonymous questionnaire, receiving $10.00 compensation for those who participated. The questionnaire asked a series of questions pertaining the frequency use and abuse of illegal and legal substances, and adolescents most recent sexual intercourse.
