Most of us just run…until we are swallowed by a whale. Then we cannot run and have to turn to our Maker whom we rejected. Would it not have been easier to just turn around before?? Thankfully, G-d gives us, like Jonah, another chance. For we know that, “sin’s payment is death, but G-d’s gracious gift is eternal life in Messiah Yeshua our L-rd” (Romans 6:23, TLV). It is then time to face our sin. “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). Thus, we cannot just put a cap on sin and hide it under a bushel because then we have this heavy load overwhelming us. And when we do not deal with the sin, we continue sinning against G-d, which makes it hard for us to follow Him. What if the unbelieving neighbor believes that he is still a good person? Well, the Word of G-d does not lie, and this message of sin and salvation is what the Bible proclaims, and we are instructed to also proclaim it. Even though the world may feel that we are against them, showing them the truth and proclaiming eternal salvation is the best way we can care for them. The Bible is the final judge to determine what is sin and what is not, since we know that “All Scripture is inspired by G-d and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16,17). Therefore, through the working of the Holy Spirit, every person should understand that G-d’s final standards are what determine “right” and “wrong.”
In conclusion, sin is out there, and it cannot be ignored. But there is hope in Messiah Yeshua, who has paid the price of redemption with His own blood. The Word of G-d gives us the instructions we need to better follow Him as our L-rd, and we are to never, ever be ashamed of these truths. May G-d help us make this come
