The Holy Spirit must have revealed to Peter that Ananias was lying, therefore he asked him why he lied. I have heard it said that Ananias would not have been asked this question if he was a lost sinner, as Peter would have known that it is the way of the ungodly to not tell the truth. I find it at least reasonable to believe he was saved but Satan filled his heart to lie. Certainly, this must be true. Revelation 3:9
