The first major aspect that affected the lives of Romeo and Juliet was also the basis of the whole story. Hate thrived in the feud, and eventually, all would be punished by its poisonous rule. Foreshadowing of the tragic end was proven in the prologue before the story begun. Cited in the play was, “The fearful passage of their death-marked love and the continuance of their parents ' rage, which, but their children’s end, naught could remove” (Prologue Lines 9-12.) In death-marked love, Romeo and Juliet still lived in their parents rage. Without the feud, there would have been no reason for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet to occur. Romeo and Juliet 's Death Trip: Addictive Love and Teen Suicide, written by Stanton Peele, is an article on the how addictive love became fatal. “Romeo and Juliet is actually Shakespeare 's case study of what results when two unformed-maladjusted youths meet at vulnerable points in their lives and are then forcibly separated, addiction, withdrawal, suicide.” This statement supports my thesis in obvious and hidden ways. It is obvious that Romeo and Juliet were too young and immature to make the binding decision of spending the rest of their lives together. They were addicted to each other, and the love they shared. Similar to addictive substances in the real world, Romeo and Juliet suffered withdrawal when they were torn apart. The two individuals could not handle the separation, another case of immaturity. With a lust they couldn’t control, Romeo and Juliet escaped themselves and the world of deprivation from each other. Although it was a poor decision, in the ignorant and inexperienced “lovers” eyes, it was the only way for them to reunite and be
